Good snow pack, rain total on the McCloud River 43 in. (currently raining hard), and Upper Sac at 1500cfs all equals great news for the coming spring and summer particularly for all you dreaming of the day when you can escape to our little peace of heaven. Plus you "Downstreamers" are looking at brighter drought news rather than doom and gloom.
Since my last report I have had the opportunity to put some time into a bit of steelhead stalking (catching been tough though) for the beast of a thousand cast ... funny how it evens out over time. Been over at the Southern OR Coast and various other top secret rivers enjoying the hunt (pastry hunt included) and some bluebird days. Locally the Klamath is kicking out some very nice winter fish of late and the Wild Waters Fly Fishing team has been bringing smiles to clients. The Klamath season continues in full force from now through most of March if you are twitching ... give us a shout.
The Upper Sac has come into high water shape and a recon yesterday with Mr. Zen (Wayne Eng) proved worth while. Remember this is big water fishing currently but for those who know the opportunity is there, just be careful. It's a quick ride down to Shasta Lake. Spend a half day with me and I can show you how we fish this river for eager trout who have not seen a fly since early December.
The Lower Sac is just entering its prime time for spring fishing, the flows are very reasonable and the fishing is very good .... and no pressure! Give us a shout if you want to enjoy a day with one of our great guides.
